About Me
Hello! I am Tyeler McLean and am working on my Master’s in History with a Major in Public History at Florida State University. I received my Bachelor of Arts in History in 2008 from FSU.
Due to my passion for history, I entered the Historical Administration and Public History program with the intention of working in a museum. A part-time job at the State Archives of Florida piqued my interest in the archival profession. As a result, I changed my course of study and took courses on Florida and American histories, historical methods, and archives and records management. The part-time job led to a full-time position as a Collections Management archivist. For four years, I have appraised, accessioned, arranged, and described archival collections. About the WebsiteAs a part of my Master’s in History, I am required to write a thesis or complete a Capstone project. This website began as a paper about the historical representation of Native Americans at Florida State Parks. When I was preparing to write my thesis, I considered expanding the paper into a more in-depth examination of historical displays at state parks. I wanted a project that would complement my interest in archives. As a result, this virtual finding aid was born.
