This website aims to assist scholars and the public who are interested in researching the history of the Florida Park Service. It is an electronic finding aid for materials on the Florida Park Service and individual state parks held by the State Archives of Florida. The State Archives preserves and makes available to the public the permanent historical public and private records of Florida. These records include the official records of state and local agencies, as well as records of private citizens that complement the official records of the state.
Like any good finding aid, historical background information is provided on the Florida Park Service, under the sections, History of the Florida Park Service and History of the National Park Service. A guide to researching at the State Archives of Florida introduces the potential researcher to the rules and procedures of the archives in the section, Researching at the State Archives of Florida. The sections, Finding Aid: State Government Records and Finding Aid: Manuscript Collection, introduce the researcher to the materials available at the archives. |
